Questions
Does Texas tax wages?
No. Texas does not tax wage income. Federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare still come out.
Is this the amount an employer will withhold?
The state line uses an employer method we transcribed. Federal withholding uses IRS Publication 15-T. A stub can still differ because of benefits, local tax, or a different W-4.
What else is withheld?
Social Security is 6.2% up to $184,500. Medicare is 1.45%, plus 0.9% after $200,000 from one employer. Payroll programs we could verify are listed on the paycheck.
Does Texas have local wage tax?
Texas has no employee local wage tax in this calculator.
Why might my pay stub differ?
Pre-tax benefits, year-to-date wages, and a different W-4 can change the result. Compare the line citations with the stub.
