California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, the Arizona election, and states with no wage tax use employer methods. Other states use statutory estimates from the Tax Foundation table as of January 1, 2026, and they are labeled that way. Philadelphia’s July 1, 2026 wage-tax rates are included.
Guides for the questions people actually search: how to read and check a stub, gross pay versus net pay, FICA, OASDI, whether a city taxes the check, what a salary takes home, the earned income credit, and working days. Each one walks through a sourced example. The working-days page counts 250 days in both 2026 and 2027. Federal unemployment tax was added from IRS Topic No. 759: 6.0% of the first $7,000, usually $42 after the 5.4% credit, paid by the employer.
