Salary to Hourly Calculator
The gross hourly rate is the salary divided by hours worked. Paid days off stay paid, so the hourly equivalent goes up while the salary stays put.
Gross hourly and net hourly
The hourly equivalent in the result is the gross rate. Divide the year’s net pay by the same hours when you want the after-tax rate. Both use the hours after paid time off.
Questions
What hours are in the default?
Forty hours a week and 52 weeks, which is 2,080 hours. A $60,000 salary is about $28.85 an hour before tax on that schedule.
How do paid days off work?
Each paid day off removes one-fifth of the weekly hours from the denominator. The salary does not change.
Is the after-tax hourly rate just the gross rate minus federal tax?
No. It uses net pay for the year, including FICA and the state line, divided by the same hours.
Does this match an offer that is already hourly?
Use the hourly calculator for a wage that is stated per hour. This page is for a salary you want to restate.
